Shahi Paneer Tikka Recipe (Restaurant Style)

Shahi Paneer Tikka is a rich, creamy, and mildly spiced variation of the classic Paneer Tikka, marinated with royal flavors and grilled to perfection.

Ingredients

For the Marinade:
  • 250g paneer (cut into cubes)
  • ½ cup hung curd (thick yogurt)
  • 2 tbsp fresh cream
  • 1 tbsp cashew paste (soaked & blended)
  • 1 tbsp almond paste (soaked & blended)
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder
  • ½ tsp white pepper powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp kasuri methi (crushed)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp melted butter or ghee
  • 1 tbsp cornflour or besan (gram flour)
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander (optional)
For Garnishing:
  • Chaat masala (for sprinkling)
  • Sliced onions and lemon wedges
  • Mint chutney

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade:
    • In a bowl, mix hung curd, fresh cream, cashew paste, almond paste, and ginger-garlic paste.
    • Add lemon juice, cardamom powder, white pepper, garam masala, kasuri methi, and salt.
    • Mix well, then add melted butter and cornflour to bind everything.
  2. Marinate the Paneer:
    • Add paneer cubes to the marinade and gently coat them.
    • Let it rest for at least 1-2 hours (overnight for better flavor).
  3. Cooking Methods:a) Using Tandoor or Grill:
    • Preheat the tandoor or grill to medium-high heat.
    • Skewer the paneer cubes and grill them for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown.

    b) Using Oven:

    • Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
    • Place the marinated paneer on a lined baking tray.
    • Bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway.

    c) Using Stovetop (Tawa/Pan):

    • Heat 1 tbsp butter or ghee in a pan.
    • Cook the paneer on medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side until slightly charred.
  4. Garnishing & Serving:
    • Sprinkle chaat masala on top.
    • Serve hot with mint chutney, sliced onions, and lemon wedges.
